Definition

Common bird population indices are elementary indices tracking annual variations in the number of individuals of a given species by monitoring observation sites. For each type of habitat (farmland, forest, built-up areas), the calculated aggregate index is the geometric mean of the indices for the species using mainly the type of habitat in question.
