Survey on retail outlets in 2004

Definition

The survey on retail outlets in 2004 was conducted by INSEE as a supplement to the annual business survey covering the commercial retail and handicrafts sector. It allows us to analyse the profitability and competitiveness of businesses at the local level, and to conduct studies on urban development. This assessment is based on ratios such as turnover per square metre or per person employed, taking into consideration the nature of the business, the surface area of the shop and its location.

The survey was conducted on businesses located in metropolitan France.
