Survey on information exchange and daily life

Definition

The survey on information exchange and daily life of 2004 allows us to assess the level of mastery of the fundamental elements of information use (literacy, communication, numeracy) through an evaluation of the competencies of adults. For writing, three fundamental skills are tested: reading, writing and comprehension of a simple text.

This survey provides information intended to inform government policy for fighting illiteracy, to refine analysis of the job market and to evaluate the educational system. This survey is conducted at irregular intervals, most recently in 2004 on around 10,400 households in metropolitan France, and deals with individuals aged between 18 and 65.
