Disabled persons healthcare survey – institutional section

Definition

Carried out for the first time in 2009, the disabled persons healthcare survey – institutional section is conducted jointly by the research, studies and statistical analysis directorate of the Ministry for Health.

The aim of this survey is to measure the prevalence of various situations of disability, and to evaluate the assistance required and social disadvantages experienced by those residing in specialist institutions.

The disabled persons healthcare survey – institutional section, conducted on a sample of 10,000 individuals and institutions in France (metropolitan France and overseas departments), deals with physical handicaps, incapacities, physical and mental health and the different types of assistance received (technical, personal and financial), as well as certain factors of social participation (education, employment, leisure activities, discrimination).
