Level of qualification (population census)

Definition

The results of the population census refer to the highest level of qualification of which the persons surveyed declared themselves to be in possession. The following categories of qualification are used:
- no qualifications:
. did not attend school;
. attended school until primary or secondary school;
. full schooling;
- certificate of primary education;
- Junior secondary education certificate, lower school certificate, school leaving certificate;
- Certificate of professional competence, Certificate of professional studies
. CAP (Certificate of professional competence), apprenticeship certificate,
. BEP (Certificate of professional studies);
- Baccalaureate, professional certificate:
. general baccalaureate, higher certificate,
. technological or vocational baccalaureate, vocational or technical certificate, Certificate of Agricultural Studies(BEA), Certificate of Commercial Studies (BEC), Certificate of Industrial Studies(BEI), Certificate of Hotel Studies (BEH), basic legal qualification;
- University undergraduate degree, Advanced Technician’s Certificate (BTS), University Technology Diploma, professional diploma in social work or healthcare, Nursing Diploma;
- Postgraduate-level university degree (including medicine, pharmacy, dentistry), engineering degree, degree from a Grande Ecole, doctorate...
