National expenditure on the environment

Definition

National expenditure on the environment includes expenditure to protect the environment as well as expenditure on activities whose primary purpose is not to protect the environment but which concern the management and the use of resources, or related to environmental preoccupations.
The latter include :
- recovery and recycling;
- the mobilisation of water resources;
- the management of green urban spaces.
