Domestic expenditure on R&D / DIRD

Definition

Domestic expenditure on R&D (DIRD) corresponds to research and development (R&D) work carried out on the national territory regardless of the origin of the funds. A part is borne by administrations (DIRDA) and the other by businesses (DIRDE). It includes current expenses (payroll of R&D personnel and operating expenses) and capital expenditure (purchasing of equipment needed to carry out internal R&D work and property transactions carried out during the year).
