Company bankruptcies

Definition

INSEE publishes a monthly set of indicators allowing observers to follow the development of company bankruptcies. Bankruptcy statistics are provided by the Official Bulletin for Civil and Commercial Announcements. The indicators detail the number of company bankruptcies, sorted by sector of activity.
These bankruptcy statistics cover all judgements declaring the opening of a procedure of legal recovery or full legal liquidation (collective procedure).

Note

Company bankruptcies must not be confused with terminations of business. A failure of company does not result necessarily in a cessation of the company. On the contrary, numerous terminations of business are not the object of an collective procedure opening.
