National employment agency / ANPE

Definition

In 2009, the National employment agency (ANPE) and Associations for employment in industry and commerce (or ASSEDICs) merged to accompany better the job-seekers in their initiatives of job search and compensation. The ANPE and ASSEDICs form henceforth the Pole Emploi (Pole Employment).

Created in 1967, the National employment agency (ANPE) was responsible for assisting persons looking for a job, training or professional advice, helping employers with the hiring and reclassification of their employees, participating in the implementation of actions favouring geographic and professional mobility and employment adaptation, and setting up public aid intended to facilitate the hiring and reclassification of employees.
