Centres with accommodation (minors)

Definition

The educational collective hosting of minors with accommodation covers several types of hosting and stays :

a. The holiday stay (previously called "holiday centre" or holiday colony) with at least 7 minors as long as their accommodation lasts for more than three consecutive nights ;
b. The short stay with at least 7 minors, not hosted in a family, for an accommodation period of one to three nights ;
c. The "specific stay" with at least 7 minors aged six or older, organised by a corporate body, the essential purpose of which is the development of specific activities ;
d. The holiday stay in a family (2 to 6 minors), taking place in a family, as long as the accommodation lasts at least 4 consecutive nights.

Since 31 August 2008, four types of "specific stays" have been distinguished :

i. the sports stay organised, for their minor members, by approved sports federations, their devolved bodies and their affiliate clubs ;
ii. the language stay, irrespective of the mode of accommodation (within a family or a collective structure such as a middle school), proposed by organisers of language stays or courses in the sense of standard NF EN 14804 ;
iii. the artistic and cultural stay organised by a music, dance or theatre school sponsored by the State, a local or regional authority or an association, conducted as an extension of the activity performed throughout the year and included, in this capacity, in the annual project ;
iv. the European meeting of Young people organized in the framework of European programmes for youth by legal entities having shown evidence of their commitment to comply with the clauses stipulated by the European Commission and as specified by the French agency in charge of this programme's implementation.
