"Immigration, integration" statistical office

The "Ministerial Statistical Office for Immigration" is the Department of Statistics, Studies and Documentation (DSED) at the Ministry for Immigration, Integration, National Identity and Development through Solidarity. The statistical scope of immigration concerns tracking migration flows, the reception and integration of immigrants, asylum and development through solidarity.

Main missions

The Department of Statistics, Studies and Documentation (DSED) develops, produces, promotes and disseminates statistical information from the Ministry for Immigration.
It provides the necessary information for the General Secretariat of the Ministry which assists the Minister and is responsible for the evaluation of policies.
The department forms part of the National Contact Point (NCP) of the European Migration Network (EMN).

Statistical production

The DSED sets up and manages statistical databases of administrative records concerning the ministry's various areas of competence: issue of visas, medical examinations, issue of residence permits, reception and integration contracts, work authorisations, asylum applications, naturalisation, repatriation procedures, etc. The DSED is in charge of updating these statistical databases at regular intervals.

The DSED is also responsible for managing the Ministry's documentation and departmental publication information.

Studies

The objective of the DSED is to produce studies that will help to improve knowledge of immigrant populations to provide information for policymaking. The DSED also contributes to evaluating the impact of policies aimed at target populations.
In order to do this, the DSED works closely with major national official study organisations, key immigration and integration partnership organizations (ANAEM, OFPRA, ACSE, etc) and European and international organizations (Eurostat, OECD, World Bank, etc).

Dissemination

The DSED handles the dissemination of statistics within the Ministry and to all administrative and statistical partners.

Place in the institution

The Department of Statistics, Studies and Documentation in the Department of Strategy reports to the General Secretariat of the Ministry for Immigration.
