Administrateurs are responsible for designing, managing, and coordinating the official statistical information system. Most Administrateurs work at the INSEE Head Office, but also in the Institute's Regional Offices as well as in the statistical and economic-analysis offices of French government ministries. Many other Administrateurs hold management-level positions in: branches of government units in charge of economic-affairs administration; public agencies; leading public- and private-sector enterprises; and banks.
Training for Administrateurs is provided in a three-year program at the National School of Statistics and Economic Administration (École Nationale de la Statistique et de l'Administration Économique: ENSAE). The school is located in Malakoff, just outside Paris.
Attachés are in charge of such tasks as: designing statistical-production projects; supervising project implementation; analysis; and dissemination of results at INSEE.
They are employed at INSEE's Head Office in Paris, its Regional Offices, and its national computing centers. Other Attachés work in statistical offices of other ministries at central or regional level. Attachés may also be assigned abroad as economic-cooperation experts. Such postings are typically reserved for experienced staff.
Training for Attachés is provided in a two-year program at the National School of Statistics and Information Analysis (École Nationale de la Statistique et de l'Analyse de l'Information: ENSAI). The school is located on the Ker Lann campus in Rennes (Brittany).
Contrôleurs are employed in all INSEE units. Their positions involve statistical, administrative, or computing tasks, depending on unit specialization:
Training for Contrôleurs is provided in a twelve-month program that includes:
Adjoints administratifs and Adjoints administratifs principaux help perform the administrative and technical tasks assigned to INSEE's regional and central units. They work under the authority of Echelon A and B staff.
